Built at Guy Motors, Fallings Park, Wolverhampton, and bodied at Elmdon, 2548 entered service as a typical Birmingham Standard of the early 1950s. She served With Birmingham City Transport for some time at Quinton and Harborne garages. By 1972 she had passed to West Midlands Passenger Transport Executive who used her until 1978 as a ‘Travelcard’ promotion vehicle.
In the latter months of that year the 2548 Group was formed, with the objective of fully restoring her. After many years of patience and dedication, their dream will soon be realised.
