This vehicle comes from the first batch delivered new to WMPTE, to what became their standard design of double-deck bus in the 1970s.
It was delivered to, and mainly operated from Wolverhampton. This was the last survivor of its batch retained by West Midlands Travel, after all others had been sold out of service, mainly for scrap.
During this period of vehicle purchase by WMPTE, they also had similar vehicles bodied by local builder Metro-Cammell to an almost identical design. Later MCW were to be the sole double decker supplier with the Metrobus.
4041 was kindly donated to Aston Manor Road Transport Museum by West Midlands Travel. After spending several years as a static display, 4041 is now back on the road and is regularly used on Museum running days.
