RRU 903 entered service with Bournemouth Corporation on 18th August 1955, and as was typical of the Bournemouth fleet, it had front and rear doors. In 1958 266 was renumbered 98, then the following year the rear door was built in to convert the vehicle to one man operation. Final withdrawal came in 1972.
Once in preservation, a previous owner began the job of reopening the rear door, but the job was never completed leaving a large amount of work to finish it with or without the door. The present owner purchased the vehicle after it had been standing for years at Mallard Road Depot. The vehicle was MOTd and driven up to the Midlands. The decision was made to rebuild the bus without the rear door, and as the photo shows, the paintwork is done and the outside of the bus is nearing completion.
