1965 FORD TRANSIT

EEA508D

OWNED BY ASTON MANOR ROAD TRANSPORT MUSEUM

BODY: FORD CHASSIS/CAB WITH DROPSIDE BODY
ENGINE: FORD V4 PETROL
TRANSMISSION: SYNCHROMESH

This vehicle was the first Ford Transit to leave the showroom of Guest Motors in West Bromwich in late 1965. It was first used on the road in January 1966 by its owner Mr Sid Norton, for his painting, decorating and building business.

After 25 years of reliable service to Sid and his son Bob, they were reluctant to see such a fine vehicle end up in a scrapyard. Because of this, they very kindly donated it to Aston Manor Road Transport Museum.

It still retains its original Ambassador Blue paintwork, and still runs and drives beautifully.
